NTPC Limited has commenced commercial operations of the 660 MW Unit I of the 1,320 MW Meja Thermal Power Station Stage I in Uttar Pradesh. Meja Urja Nigam (Private) Limited owns the power plant and is a joint venture company of NTPC and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited. With this, the commercial capacity of NTPC has reached 54,326 MW. In a separate development, NTPC has deferred the commencement of commercial operations of its 800 MW Unit I of the Gadarwara super thermal power station in Madhya Pradesh. NTPC has, also secured 100 MW of solar capacity at a tariff of Rs 2.91 per unit in the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) 250 MW grid-connected solar tender for the Dondaicha Solar Park, in Maharashtra. The solar project would be set up in the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) mode.
