The Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) has proposed to reduce the generation tariffs for cogeneration power plants owned by sugar mills in the state. The commission plans to reduce the tariffs to Rs 6.19 per unit from Rs 6.75 per unit for the sale of power from cogeneration plants to Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL). The new tariffs are being determined under the Captive and Non-conventional Energy Generating Plants Regulations, 2019.
