Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited has released over 10,000 electricity connections this year within an average time of 48 hours. There is a significant reduction in the number of steps needed to get a connection. This has been achieved through the extensive use of smart technologies such as advanced distribution management systems (ADMS), geographical information systems (GIS), field force automation and digitalisation of services. The most significant of these is GIS, with all distribution transformers (DTs) across the company’s network being mapped on GIS. This helps in historical loading of all DTs, resulting in faster decision-making and system augmentation for releasing new connections and helping in load planning. Applicants can get a new connection within seven working days and track the status of their connection in real time.
