IDA approves $65 million loan for CASA 1000 project

The International Development Association, the concessional financing arm of the World Bank, has approved a loan of $65 million to complete Pakistan’s infrastructure component under the Central Asia-South Asia Electricity Transmission and Trade Project [CASA] 1000. The loan has a maturity period of 30 years and a grace period of five years. The loan aims to close the financing gap for the committed contracts for constructing Pakistan’s HVDC converter station. The Pakistan Government will make the additional financing available to National Transmission & Despatch Company under a subsidiary agreement.
