Sembcorp Group commissions 414 MW project in Bangladesh

The Sembcorp Group has commissioned the 414 MW Sirajganj Unit 4 combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant in Bangladesh. The power plant is dually fuelled – primarily by gas and uses high speed diesel as a backup fuel. The $412 Sirajganj Unit 4 CCGT is Bangladesh’s first public-private partnership power plant backed by foreign investment. It was developed and is owned and operated by Sembcorp North-West Power Company, a joint venture that is 71 per cent owned by Sembcorp Utilities and 29 per cent by Bangladesh’s state-owned North-West Power Generation Company. The project will supply power to the Bangladesh Power Development Board for 22 years.
