The Telangana government has sought 2,000 MW of additional power from NTPC to meet the growing power demand in the state. The state has sought unallocated power from NTPC from July to November 2019. Currently, the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project is under implementation and with its operation, starting in June 2019, the power requirements are expected to go up by 2,000-13,000 MW.
