APSPDCL writes to SECI and NTPC to reduce RE tariffs

Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) has written to the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and NTPC seeking to reduce tariffs to Rs 2.44 per unit for 400 MW and 1,250 MW of grid-connected solar PV capacity respectively. SECI had entered into a power sale agreement with Andhra Pradesh discoms at a tariff of Rs 4.50 per unit for projects commissioned in October 2016. NTPC has also been asked to revise the tariff of a 250 MW project set up at NP Kunta in Anantapur from Rs 5.96 per unit to Rs 2.44 per unit and of the 1,000 MW Ghani solar park in Kurnool from Rs 4.61 per unit to Rs 2.44 per unit. The discom has stated that if the tariff is not revised, it will terminate the power purchase agreement (PPA). Rejecting APSPDCL’s demand, SECI and NTPC have warned the discom of legal action.
