The CEA has published a draft report on the Optimal Generation Capacity Mix for 2029-30. The results of the studies show that the installed capacity by the end of 2029-30 will stand at 831,502 MW, which includes 64,089 MW of hydro, 5,000 MW of small hydro, 4,356 MW of hydro imports, 266,827 MW of coal, 24,350 MW of gas, 16,880 MW of nuclear, 300,000 MW of solar, 140,000 MW of wind and 10,000 MW of biomass, along with a battery energy storage capacity of 34,000 MW/136,000 MWh.
