The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has issued Measures Relating to Safety and Electric Supply (Amendment) Regulations, 2019. The amendments pertain to general measures for safety requirement in electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, earth protection system for charging stations, testing and inspection, and periodic assessment of charging stations among others. They will come into force on the date of their publication in the official gazette. In a separate development, the CEA has issued draft amendments to the Technical Standards for Construction of Electrical Plants and Electric Lines Regulations, 2010. The CEA has invited stakeholders to submit their suggestions/comments on the draft by August 21, 2019.
