TANGEDCO plans to set up new gas-based power units

Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited is planning to set up two new natural gas-based power units of 730 MW capacity each at Basin Bridge, Chennai. The proposed project will be set up by GMR at the premises of an old naphtha-based power plant that was decommissioned last year. The project is expected to cost over Rs 500 billion and would take about five years to commence generation. The fuel will be sourced through a pipeline from the Indian Oil terminal at Ennore.
