EDF-Masdar consortium reaches financial closure on Saudi wind project

A consortium comprising EDF Renewables and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company has reached financial closure for the 400 MW Dumat Al Jandal wind project in Saudi Arabia. The $500 million project was awarded to the consortium in January 2019 by the Saudi Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources’ Renewable Energy Project Development Office. The winning bid amounted to $21.3 per MWh. The project will begin operations in the first quarter of 2022. The project has a 20-year PPA with the Saudi Power Procurement Company. It has apppointed Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems A/S as turbine supplier and in charge of the the EPC work.
