Philippine’s NGCP seeks approval for the first phase of Palawan–Mindoro Interconnection Project

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), private concessionaire for the Philippine transmission network, is seeking approval from the Energy Regulatory Commission for the implementation of the first phase of the proposed Palawan–Mindoro Interconnection Project, valued at PHP 6.4 billion. NGCP is proposing to implement the project to provide adequate, reliable and affordable power supply in Palawan. Stage 1 of the project will serve as preparatory work for the interconnection of Palawan to the main grid. The first component of Stage 1 involves undertaking a desktop and hydrographic survey for the transmission line and substation project in Mindoro. The survey, expected to be completed within 27 months, will assess the risks in the study area, determine the feasible routes for the interconnection and assess engineering risks along the possible cable routes and other factors.
