ANDRITZ to modernise the Shivanasamudra hydropower plant

ANDRITZ has signed a contract with Karnataka Power Corporation Limited to refurbish and renovate the Shivanasamudra hydropower plant located in Karnataka. It is one of Asia’s oldest hydropower plants. Built in 1902, the scope of the contract includes the supply of equipment for turbines and auxiliaries, spiral casing, draft tube-elbow and cone and the cooling water system, as well as refurbishment of the electrical, excitation, governing, protection and control systems. ANDRITZ will perform inspection work along with overhauling and testing the existing 10 generators. The order will be executed by ANDRITZ Hydro India with its state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Mandideep, near Bhopal, and Prithla, near Faridabad.
