CIL plans to invest in coal transportation infrastructure

Coal India Limited (CIL) and large pithead coal consumers plan to invest Rs 100 billion in conveyor belts to transport coal directly from mines in a cheaper and cleaner way without using trucks. The consumers will make the investment while CIL will provide land and other facilities for the belts, which will be installed in the mines that produce over 4 million tonnes of coal.
