DERC notifies retail electricity tariffs for 2019-20

The Delhi Electricity Regularity Commission has notified new electricity tariffs for 2019-20. As per the new rates, the fixed charges for domestic consumers with load up to 2 kW have been reduced from Rs 125 per kW per month to Rs 20 per kW per month; with load above 2 kW but less than 5 kW from Rs 140 per kW per month to Rs 50 per kW per month; and with load more than 5 kW and less than 15 kW from Rs 175 per kW per month to Rs 100 per kW per month. Further, the tariff for charging stations of e-rickshaws and other electric vehicles (EVs) has been reduced from Rs 5.50 per unit to Rs 4.50 per unit for the low tension category and from Rs 5 per unit to Rs 4 per unit for the high tension category. In addition, the Delhi government has announced that electricity consumption up to 200 units will not be billed and consumption between 201 and 400 units will be billed at half its price owing to subsidy.
