Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has completed the installation of over 500,000 smart meters in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Bihar, and Andhra Pradesh under the Smart Meter National Programme. The smart meters are type-tested by the Bureau of Indian Standards as per the IS 16444 guidelines. In another development, EESL has expanded its Super-Efficient Air Conditioner Programme to six more cities – Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai and Jaipur. So far, the scheme was available only in Delhi. Under the scheme, 1.5 TR inverter split super-efficient ACs will be available at Rs 41,300 each (including goods and services tax) with one-year free warranty. These ACs are 20 per cent more efficient than the Bureau of Energy Efficiency’s (BEE) 5-star rated ACs and 50 per cent more efficient than BEE’s 3-star ACs that are currently available in the market.
