Essar Power directed to pay Rs 5 million compensation

Essar Power Madhya Pradesh Limited has been directed to pay Rs 5 million as compensation to farmers by the Madhya Pradesh government. The payment will be made to farmers whose crops were damaged by fly ash leaked from the company’s 1,200 MW Mahan thermal power plant due to cracks in a fly ash dyke. At present, an overall environmental damage assessment is being done by the officials of the Central Pollution Control Board and the Madhya Pradesh Control Board.
