Abu Dhabi’s DoE signs an MoU with Chinese SGCC for supporting energy sector in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi’s Department of Energy has signed an MoU with the Chinese state-owned utility, State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), for supporting the energy sector in Abu Dhabi. This is in line with Abu Dhabi’s transition towards adopting efficient consumption behaviours and expanding renewable energy networks. The MoU outlines the role of the concerned parties in implementing the strategic partnership, within which energy will be the central focus to drive trade and economic growth, as well as technological innovation. The agreement will support energy project development by SGCC in Abu Dhabi. The MoU includes undertaking feasibility studies to improve energy system efficiencies, developing facilities for producing and storing clean energy, laying gas-insulated underground cables and lines, connecting the existing power grid to neighbouring and regional countries, improving the quality of the grid network, utilising district cooling systems, establishing and developing advanced infrastructure for meters, and providing training to develop skill sets of the workforce operating the electric grid.
