Andhra Pradesh High Court directs RE petitioners to approach APERC

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed solar and wind energy companies opposing renegotiation of tariffs by the state government to approach the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission. A timeline of six months has been set to resolve the issues. The Andhra Pradesh government had directed a high-level committee to renegotiate PPAs with renewable energy developers in July 2019 and submit a report within 45 days. Later, on July 12, 2019, the Southern Andhra Power Distribution Company sent letters to 139 wind power plants asking to revise tariff to Rs 2.43 per unit and solar plants to reduce the price to Rs 2.44 per unit retrospectively. Aggrieved by the order, renewable energy developers moved the Andhra Pradesh High Court, which stayed the state government’s order.
