Bangladesh’s PGCB invites bids for 400 kV GIS substation

Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Limited has invited international competitive bids for the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a 400 kV outdoor gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation at Bogura (West) and Rahanpur, along with upgradation/ extension of the Gopalganj and Chapainawabganj (old) substations on a turnkey basis. The contract is part of the Southwest Transmission Grid Expansion Project, which is being funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The project entails the construction of the 400/132 kV substation at Gopalganj, the 230 kV Barisal-Faridpur transmission line, the 400 kV Bogra-Rohanpur transmission line, and the implementation of a capacity development programme in the electric utility industry. It aims to improve the operational performance of the power sector and further contribute to the government’s target of 100 per cent electrification by 2021. The last date for bid submission is November 11, 2019.
