State-owned Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) has signed an EGP 587.4 million contract with a Xian-led consortium, comprising the Xian Electric Engineering Company, XD-EGEMAC (a JV of the China XD Group, Xian XD Switchgear Electric Company (formerly the Xi’an Shiky High Voltage Electric Company) and the Saudi Arabian National Contracting Company, for setting up a GIS substation in El-Hawamdia, Giza, on a turnkey basis. The project will be implemented over a period of 12 months from the date of signing of the contract. It will be financed by EETC itself, along with funding from Arab and international financial institutions.
