Iraq signs contract with GCC Interconnection Authority for funding a transmission line

Iraq has signed a contract with the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority for funding a transmission line passing from Kuwait to Iraq’s southern port of Al Faw. The 300 km long line will have a power transmission capacity to enable the import of 500 MW of electricity. The project is valued at $220 million, and a separate agreement is expected to be signed for finalising the power import agreement.
