Laos – Malaysia – Thailand agree on a second PPA under LTM-PIP

Laos, Malaysia and Thailand have agreed on a second power purchase agreement (PPA) under the Laos, Thailand and Malaysia Power Integration Project (LTM-PIP) at the 37th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting. The first 100 MW PPA, which was signed in early 2018, is scheduled to expire in December 2019. The new energy purchase and wheeling agreement aims to increase electricity export from Laos to Malaysia by up to 300 MW in 2021. Under the LTM-PIP, power trade will commence from January 2020 up until December 2021. In the subsequent phase of the project, power trade will be expanded from Laos to Singapore and Myanmar.
