MoC allots Deocha Pachami coal block to WBPDCL

The Ministry of Coal (MoC) has entered into an allotment agreement with West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited (WBPDCL) for the Deocha Pachami Dewanganj-Harinsingha coal block located in Birbhum district of West Bengal. The block has been allotted under the provisions of the Coal Block Allocation Rules, 2017. With estimated reserves of 2,102 million tonnes, the Deocha Pachami is the second largest coal mine in the world. An upfront refundable deposit of Rs 500 million has been made by WBPDCL to the central government in this regard. The coal block would require an investment of Rs 120 billion-Rs 150 billion in the coming years.
