NHPC Limited plans to begin construction of the 2,000 MW Lower Subansiri hydroelectric plant (HEP) by October 2019 as it has received the requisite approval from the Assam government after signing the memorandum of agreement (MoA) on August 23, 2019. The MoA with the Arunachal Pradesh government was signed in 2010. Since the project falls in the territories of both Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, the latter’s approval was needed as well. The work on the project is expected to be completed in three and a half years with a total investment of Rs 200 billion.
