Philippines’ DoE: No suspension of coal power plant until Philippines attains energy security

The Philippines’ Department of Energy has said that it will not suspend coal power plant development until the country meets its energy security goal. The Philippines has adopted a technology-neutral policy to build its capacity to ensure affordable, adequate and reliable power supply while sustaining economic growth. It is one of the few countries in the world that insists on constructing new coal-fired power plants despite a global trend to halt their use.
