The Vietnamese government has granted approval to US-headquartered AES Corporation for the development of a 2.2 GW combined cycle power plant in the south-central province of Binh Thuan, Vietnam. The project’s financial closure is expected to be achieved in 2021. The plant is slated to commence commercial operations in 2024. Once operational, electricity generated by the power plant will be purchased by the Vietnamese government under a 20-year contract.
