CEA releases Draft Universal Feeder Code

The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has released the Draft Universal Feeder Code. The draft follows the MoP’s letter to the CEA directing it to formulate a guideline/methodology for the generation of a unique code for each feeder (rural and urban) to map electricity supply-related infrastructure of the discoms in a digital format. The move aims to ensure better utilisation of the installed infrastructure under various central government schemes. The CEA has sought comments on the draft guidelines. It has proposed a 16-letter code for feeders. At present, many discoms in the country are already following one or the other methodology for feeder coding, especially to integrate their systems with SCADA.
