Ministries of Egypt, Jordan and GCCIA signs MoU  for interconnection project

The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy of Egypt, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Jordan and the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) have signed an MoU and a non-disclosure agreement. The agreements are for connecting the proposed Cairo (Egypt)–Amman (Jordan) line to the GCCIA’s interconnection project. The planned grid connection aims to establish a link between the GCCIA’s existing grid network, which connects its six member countries — Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and the United Arab Emirates — via a 1,400 km, 400 kV overhead line (OHL) to the interconnection point in Jordan and then with Egypt via a 400 kV OHL with a length of around 780 km.
