SEC has awarded an SAR 135.8 million contract for the expansion of the 380 kV Fadhili gas plant and Qaisumah substation to the Saudi Arabia-based firm Alfanar Construction. The scope of work includes the expansion of the 380 kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation; installation of 120 MVAr and 60 MVAr reactors; additions/modifications to the protection and control system, communication system, substation automation system, fire detection/alarm and safety, and fire protection system; and civil/structural works and mechanical works. The project is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2021.
