Siemens to provide equipment for upgradation of Hiep Phuoc 1 power plant in Vietnam

Siemens will provide the equipment to upgrade the Hiep Phuoc 1 steam power plant in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to a combined cycle power plant. This will increase the plant’s capacity by about 780 MW to approximately 1,200 MW. The modernised plant will be fired with regasified LNG instead of oil. By changing the fuel, deploying Siemens’ modern F-class gas turbines, and using the waste heat from the gas turbines to produce electricity, carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by half.
