Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) has signed an MoU with the Himachal Pradesh government for operationalising the 40 MW hydropower plant at Baggi in the state. Two 20 MW units in the Baggi powerhouse will be executed by BBMB at the tail of the Pandoh-Baggi tunnel, with an estimated cost of Rs 3.5 billion. The powerhouse, built on the Beas-Sutlej link in 1976, has been lying in a disused and dilapidated state since then because of differences over royalty and power sharing between BBMB member states of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan.
