UPPCL has partially shut down three units of 300 MW capacity each at the Rosa thermal power plant (TPP) in Shahjahanpur, and one unit of 110 MW each at the Harduaganj TPP in Aligarh and Parichha TPP in Jhansi. This has reduced power generation by over 1,000 MW on a single day. The demand for power registered a significant decline after Diwali and, therefore, the units that could have wheeled in power to the state grid had to be shut down.
