AfDB approves Transmission Company of Nigeria plan to enhance transmission infrastructure

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has received approval from the African Development Bank (AfDB) for providing financial support worth $210 million for the establishment of transmission infrastructure under the first phase of the Nigerian Transmission Expansion Project (NTEP 1). The latter project aims to strengthen and improve the grid’s wheeling capacity in the northwest and south-south regions of the country, where transmission lines are constrained. The procurement process for the NTEP 1 is about 70 per cent complete.
