Egypt’s EETC receives approval for transmission network strengthening

State-owned Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) has received approval from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for a EUR 182.9 million loan for improving Egypt’s transmission network. The loan amount will help EETC to integrate the upcoming 1.3 GW of renewable energy into the country’s grid network by developing new connections between renewable energy plants and new/refurbished high voltage substations. In addition, it will focus on establishing a robust grid network across the country, in order to reduce transmission losses and save 77,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
