Coal India Limited (CIL) has provided flexibility to independent power producers (IPPs) to use the contracted coal at any plant run by the same group. Accordingly, an IPP owning two different plants and having two separate fuel supply agreements in place can now transfer coal from one plant to another. This will help IPPs to improve generation efficiency and reduce the cost of fuel. This facility was earlier available to central and state power generating companies only. Besides this, CIL has extended the letter of credit facility to non-regulated customers.
