NTPC commissions 250 MW unit of Barauni TPP

NTPC Limited has operationalised the 250 MW unit at the Barauni coal-based power station in Bihar. With this, the 1,000 MW TPP stands fully commissioned and the total installed capacity of NTPC and the NTPC Group has reached 48,895 MW and 57,356 MW respectively. In a separate development, NTPC has invited bids to develop 923 MW of solar projects ranging from 50 MW to 300 MW. The tender has been floated under Tranche II Phase II of the central public sector undertaking (CPSU) programme, which is a part of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission. It has been notified under the domestic content requirement category, which mandates the use of domestically manufactured solar cells and modules in projects.
