The REC Foundation, the CSR arm of REC Limited, has signed a memorandum with Christian Medical College, Vellore, to extend CSR support of Rs 0.1 billion under the programme for control of sickle cell diseases and thalassemia in 15 districts of Odisha. The programme will also provide training to healthcare workers including doctors, laboratory technicians, auxiliary nurse midwives, and accredited social health activists and their supervisors to improve diagnosis, treatment and counselling of major haemoglobin diseases. It aims to assist 1.5 million-2 million individuals in two years.
