The Global Infrastructure Facility’s (GIF) governing council has approved $1.5 million in funding to support the World Bank’s work with the Vietnam government under the Solar Pilot Auction Programme. The GIF will help the government to design and structure the auction programme to transition from a feed-in tariff regime to a competitive auction scheme for solar projects. The programme will help meet Vietnam’s increased demand for energy and promote private sector participation.
