Nigeria’s TCN augments Ogba transmission substation

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has installed a 100 MVA, 132/33 kV power transformer at the Ogba transmission substation in Lagos state, thereby increasing the substation’s capacity from 165 MVA to 265 MVA. Further, to fully utilise the newly installed transformer, a new 132 kV, 33 kV switchyard and three units of 33 kV feeders have been installed. Prior to the installation of the 100 MVA transformer, the Ogba substation was equipped with 2×60 MVA and 1×45 MVA, 132/33 kV transformers.

TCN has received a $13 million grant from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the provision of capacitor banks to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the Apo and Keffi axis of Nasarawa state in Nigeria. Earlier, in 2018, JICA had provided a $21.1 million grant for the rehabilitation and reinforcement of the 132 kV Apapa Road and 330 kV Akangba substations.
