Thailand-based Ratch Group Plc and Gulf Energy Development Public Company Limited have partnered to build the 1,400 MW Hin Kong combined cycle power plant in Muang Ratchaburi in Thailand. Gulf Energy has purchased a 49 per cent share in the project operator Hin Kong Power Holding Company Limited. The project comprises two power blocks of 700 MW each. The project has a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT). The first block is scheduled to begin commercial operations in 2024 and the second in 2025. Environmental impact assessment is currently under way for the project.
