UAE-based Masdar and Indonesian utility PLN to jointly set up world’s largest floating solar project

Abu Dhabi-based renewables developer Masdar and Indonesian state electricity company Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) have partnered to develop a 145 MW floating solar power project in Indonesia. Once completed, the project would be among the world’s largest floating solar farms. This is Masdar’s first floating PV project and marks its foray in Southeast Asia. The project will be installed on the Cirata reservoir in West Java, about 100 km southeast of Jakarta. It is expected to improve the capability of the Java-Bali power system and increase the renewable energy mix in Indonesia. The project is likely to be commissioned by 2022.
