Vietnam’s EVN signs new deals to buy electricity from Laos

State-owned utility Vietnam Electricity (EVN) has signed five new deals to buy electricity from Laos starting 2021. The country is expecting power demand to exceed supply by 6.6 BUs in 2021 and 15 BUs by 2023. The utility has signed pacts with Laos-based Phongsubthavy Group Company Limited and Chealun Sekong Energy Company Limited to provide electricity from five hydropower plants with a combined capacity of 363 MW.
