BHEL commissions two 150 MW units for NEEPCO’s Kameng HEP

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has commissioned two 150 MW units of North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited’s (NEEPCO) 600 MW Kameng Hydroelectric Project (HEP) in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. This is the largest unit rating (150 MW) for hydropower plants in the state. The Kameng HEP, a run-of-the-river project, will utilise the flow from the Bichom and Tenga rivers. BHEL’s scope of work in the project includes designing, manufacturing, supply, installation and commissioning of four 150 MW vertical Francis turbines and matching synchronous generators, transformers, control and monitoring systems along with associated auxiliaries.
