Economic Survey 2019-20 focuses on energy projects in National Infrastructure Pipeline

The Economic Survey 2019-20 has highlighted that energy sector projects account for the highest share (24 per cent) in the Rs 1.02 trillion National Infrastructure Pipeline for the period 2019-20 to 2024-25. A capex of Rs 24.5 trillion is expected in the energy segment during the period with the power sector accounting for a 48 per cent share or Rs 11.75 trillion, followed by renewable energy at 38 per cent (Rs 9.29 trillion), petroleum and natural gas at 8 per cent (Rs 1.95 trillion) and atomic energy at 6 per cent (Rs 1.54 trillion). The rest of the investment will come from the roads, railways, urban, agriculture, infrastructure and allied sectors. The Economic Survey also points at the commendable progress in the generation and transmission of electricity.
