MNRE issues directive to remove tariff cap in RE project auctions

The MNRE has issued a directive to SECI, NTPC Limited and state government departments to remove the tariff cap in renewable energy project auctions. The move is likely to increase the participation in project auctions, which have witnessed tepid investor interest in recent months owing to low ceiling tariffs. The MNRE has also directed SECI, NTPC and state power departments to procure RE energy either through a single renewable source or a combination of various renewable sources with or without storage.
