Myanmar’s energy ministry signs contracts for NEP phase-II

Myanmar’s Mandalay Electricity Supply Corporation, Electricity Supply Enterprise, Ministry of Electricity and Energy (MoEE) and Hitachi Soe Electric & Machinery (HISEM) have signed a contract for the second phase of the National Electrification Project (NEP). The Myanmar government has received a $310 million loan from the World Bank to implement the NEP. Under the second phase of the NEP, electrification work across 4,700 villages will be completed. In the first phase, electricity is targeted to be supplied to 5,080 villages. As of January 2020, the construction work in 1,891 villages has been completed and 1,091 villages have got access to electricity.
