Pakistan’s K-Electric energises grid station under TP-1000 Project

Pakistan’s vertically integrated power utility K-Electric Limited has energised the 220 kV New Port Qasim grid station. The latter is under the $460 million Transmission Enhancement Project (TP-1000), which was launched in 2015 in-collaboration with Siemens Germany/Pakistan and Shanghai Electric of China. TP-1000 comprises the installation of new 220 kV and 132 kV grid stations, bay extensions, six new autotransformers, and an efficiency expansion plan for 21 existing grid stations that also includes the addition of 28 power transformers.
