Vietnam proposes changes in bidding rules for solar power plants

Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has suggested changes in tariffs for solar power projects. The ministry recently sent a report to the federal government suggesting that groundmounted solar projects should have a fixed feed-in tariff (FiT) of 7.09 cents per kWh and floating solar projects should have an FiT of 7.69 cents per kWh if the projects are approved before November 23, 2019 and begin operations before January 1, 2021. In the previous proposal, MoIT had suggested FiT for projects with power purchase agreements only.
