MNRE issues order reaffirming ‘must-run’ status of RE projects

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued a clarification regarding payment to renewable energy generating stations during the moratorium provided to discoms by the MoP. The MNRE has stated that the “must-run” status granted to renewable energy generating stations will remain unchanged throughout the lockdown period and thus payments to renewable energy generators should be made on a regular basis. Further, the MNRE has said that discoms, that curtail the use of renewable energy will have to pay solar and wind power developers for the electricity deemed to have been generated. The only exception would be on account of issues arising due to grid safety.
